Lakers Jazz Preview

The Lakers travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz tonight. LA is coming off a dramatic win in Phoenix and will be looking to continue their winning ways.

Defensive issues.

It’s no secret that the Lakers have been suffering from defensive issues as of late. With the absence of Austin Reaves due to a groin injury which is expected to keep him out for around a week the Lakers opted to start Marcus Smart. However when Reaves comes back the Lakers need to find more defensive solutions as it’s definitely an area of weakness. Luka Doncic took responsibility for the defensive struggles saying that it starts with him.

Austin’s absence.

As mentioned before, Austin Reaves is currently out for LA. He’s obviously been a huge part of the Lakers offense this season averaging 28 a game alongside nearly 7 assists a game. The question is how will the Lakers try and replace his production. Marcus Smart started in his place against Phoenix but is a more defensive player. Will LA look to Lebron James to fill the scoring void or will it be a more even effort from others like Smart and Hachimura. Deandre Ayton and Gabe Vincent are also out tonight.
