Torey Baskin to Be Honored by Hoffman Estates High School After Reaching 1,000 Career Points

Hoffman Estates High School will honor senior guard Torey Baskin on January 6 during the school day, recognizing a major milestone in his IHSA basketball career: 1,000 career points scored.
The achievement places Baskin in rare company across Cook County and reflects years of consistent production at the varsity level. Competing in one of the deeper high school basketball environments in the Chicago suburbs, Baskin has built his résumé through sustained performance rather than a single breakout season.
Known as a dual-sport athlete, Baskin has earned All-Area recognition in football and basketball, but his scoring milestone underscores his impact on the court specifically, night after night, year after year. Reaching 1,000 points in IHSA basketball is not something that happens quickly. It is the result of durability, leadership, and the ability to produce against opponents who game-plan for you.
That production has not gone unnoticed.
Baskin was recently highlighted by the Daily Herald as a Cook County Athlete of the Month nominee after scoring 27 points in a 51–43 victory over Maine East in the Maine East Holiday Tournament championship, where he was named MVP.

In Baskin’s case, the numbers reflect more than volume scoring. Much of his production has come while serving as a primary offensive option, often drawing extra defensive attention while still finding ways to score, create for teammates, and impact games on both ends of the floor.
The recognition from Hoffman Estates comes during his senior season, as Baskin continues to lead on the court while contributing as a scorer, playmaker, and defender. His accomplishment will be acknowledged by the school as part of its ongoing celebration of student-athletes who leave a lasting mark on their programs.
For Baskin and his family, the milestone represents more than a number. It is a marker of growth, perseverance, and the body of work he has built throughout his high school basketball career in Cook County and the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
Hoffman Estates will pause on January 6 to celebrate that work, and the accomplishment now stands as a permanent chapter in Torey Baskin’s journey through IHSA basketball.
